Before and After Botox
A tamed evil
What we all are used to call “Botox” is a toxin in reality. Botox is a word that has a full name of botulinum toxin of A-type. It means that this substance is produced by a small bacterium Clostridium botulinum and may be a matter of a very serious disease called botulism, which may lead to a body poisoning and even death. Though, the scientists have found a way to tame this “evil”. Botox does no harm to a human body if you use only small amounts of it. On the contrary, you should have seen those before and after photos, where people (mostly women) use Botox injections to get full and juicy lips and hide away their wrinkles. The effect can be reached because this toxin works like a relaxant in human muscles, and its work may be visual up to several months.
But you should understand that there are two types of this toxin — Botox and Botox Cosmetic. People hardly ever make any difference between these two. But it is the latter one that is widely used in various cosmetic procedures. Botox provides the result when muscles being blocked by the toxin injections do not get signals from the nerves to contract. Besides its cosmetic effect Botox can treat neck pain, hyperhidrosis, and even chronic migraine.
Cosmetic Effects
Thanks to this toxin’s ability block nerves and signals from them, Botox is widely used today in cosmetology. We can’t call these procedures surgeries, because they have nothing with incisions and scalpels. They contain only injections in such places on your face where wrinkles are visible (forehead, eyes, mimic wrinkles). Though, cosmetologists are likely not to advise you to do this procedure to get rid of undesirable wrinkles in the mouth are, because muscles there are used for speaking and eating, so it isn’t good to block them.
The procedure is performed in a cosmetologist’s office. A patient sits in the medical armchair or on the table, but the body should be raised up a little bit. A cosmetologist or a doctor cleanses the areas for injections with special alcohol-free cleansers. Since this procedure is rather painful a doctor may use some special anesthetic creams. Once Botox is injected in a couple of areas (the number varies depending on the facial areas where injections are applied), some pressure may be needed in these areas because of the bleeding. Before and after pictures show the effectiveness of this toxin, but never forget not to lay down for a couple of hours to reach the strongest effect.
