Chin Augmentation - Before and After Photos

Searching for a Perfect Face

If you are crazy about your appearance, then you should know how attractive a perfect chin may be. Everyone knows the story of Marilyn Monroe and her plastic surgery of chin augmentation. They say directors and producers hardly ever called her in their films before this surgery. And it makes sense because a perfect chin shape can improve the outlook of the face.

People undergo the procedure of a chin augmentation to change a shape or a size of the chin. There are two ways to reach this result: to place an implant or to change the shape of chin bones. A jaw line is one of the things that make someone’s face attractive, and it is the object of reshaping as well. Sometimes patients do not stop with only a chin augmentation; they make a complex of procedures aimed to improve the lower face and neck lines.

Getting Ready For a Surgery

A patient needs to take x-rays of his or her lower face. A plastic surgeon needs this to be done in order to see where he can operate on. Since this procedure is a serious plastic surgery a patient will be under general or local anesthesia. The first one means that he or she will be a sort of sleeping but not feeling any pain. The latter one means that a doctor will use special medicine that will cause numbing in a necessary area. Once a decision about the place of incision is made, the doctor makes a cut. It can have two variants of location: inside a patient’s mouth or under the chin. Then a doctor inserts an implant into a specially prepared pocket. The material of the implant may be different: silicone, Teflon, Dacron or even something else, because innovations in medicine are moving further and further.

Chin augmentation means that the implant will be attached to the bones. A doctor will do this with the help of sutures or screws. Don’t be afraid if your surgeon tells you that he will need to remove some bones. Look at before and after photos of this kind of plastic surgeries and you will see that it’s worth the cost.

Of course, the majority of patients going for a chin augmentation are women. The surgeries deal with changing the shape of a chin from both sides if the face is very asymmetric. An effect can be achieved if a doctor will make a chin a bit longer if a patient’s nose is rather long and dramatically shows up on the face.
