Noses Are Different

Nose job is a collective name for the procedures also known as nose surgeries and rhinoplasty. Obviously, a human nose is one of the organs that a lot of people all over the world are not satisfied with. Thus, a nose job is one of the top cosmetic surgeries, too.

Being a part of the face that is visible and receiving great attention, a nose is something that can be corrected due to a number of cosmetic defects or injuries.

Before and after pictures show perfect results of a nose job that can change many defects and different imperfection of this organ. For instance, one can change the size of his/her nose, the width, the bridge, the tip, and the asymmetric shape. All these defects bring certain discomfort to their owners.

Sculpturing Your Nose

Have a preparatory consultation of your plastic surgeon and talk about all the aspects of your future nose job. Anesthesia is likely to be general or may be performed with intravenous sedative medications.

There are two general types of performing rhynoplasty. The first one is a closed procedure when all the incisions are invisible and are made inside this organ. The second type is to make an incision across a special place called columella, which is a tiny strip of tissue separating two nostrils. These narrow incisions let a surgeon operate inside the nose.

A nose job means either reduction of some tissue and bones or the augmentation if a patient thinks that his/her nose is too small. Most surgeons perform it with the pieces of cartilage. Their origin may be different, but some usual places to take it are located on ears or ribs. The surgeon will further reshape the nose structure and will sculpt a new form. The final stage of a nose job is to close the incisions. Nasal skin and tissues will be properly placed and the surgeon will close all the incisions. He can also change the size of the nostrils if a patient thinks it will be perfect for him and the doctor will approve that this procedure is OK.

Of course, a patient’s face will be swollen during the first days or, maybe, even weeks. But the swelling will go away and the real new shape of the nose will be apparent. Do not worry if you see that sometimes this process comes back in the morning or during the illness. Doctors say that the first year after a nose job can be marked with the swelling. But all this should become normal within the first years.
