I can see why a lot of men would want to get this done. Woman tend to be more into tall guys (its harsh but its true - not all obviously - but the mass majority of woman). I know many short woman who are 5'0 and she still expect to date a guy who is 6 feet tall - oddly enough. When I asked one girl why she didn't date someone who was closer to her height she just replied "I like to feel protected and I like feeling little next to a tall guy". I personally believe that personality is more important, however it's a dog eat dog world out there.
I'd love to be 6' tall but 5'10" is tall enough. Breaking your bones to get taller is going a bit far if you ask me. But, height really matters, I know. Look at Michael Phelps, the swimmer who won all those gold medals. The before pictures would make you want to do it. The surgeon turn a frog into a prince!
This is real surgery.....look it up on internet. It is not that uncommon of a procedure actually. It is painful; the brace on the limb has screws that are adjusted by milimeter or partial mm (there are 25.4 mm in one inch...to give you an idea). The doctors do not break the bone they severe the bone to make a very minimal gap in which the bone will begin to heal naturally by growing toward the severed end to end bone; with the brace in place to widen the gap during the healing process the bone stretches to heal as the bone grows toward the bone as the brace moves the bone continues to grow further. Have you ever noticed scar tissue is thicker and denser than your normal tissue? So is true of a severed bone; this bone will be denser and stronger than natural bone. And have you ever noticed some people that have had broken bones develop knotted boney overgrowth.....scar tissue; over production of the body healing. When you think about the natural process of the body you have personally experienced during your life it makes sense.....doesn't it?
His arms are the same length as they were-- they're in proportion with his torso, so it doesn't look 'wrong'. You can tell because they end at the same spot -- his shoulder is higher in the right side pic, so the arm looks longer. Also, his right arm hangs longer than his left in both pics, and because you're comparing the arms that are next to each other, the arms look longer when they aren't. I think the doc fixed his bow-leggedness a little TOO well, though. They're super close together, there's no gaps at all in the second pic, which, for a guy, that's a bit weird in my opinion.
My boyfriend wants to get this done... he's joked about it, but I think deep down, part of him wishes he were taller. He is 5'2" or possibly 5'1" and has felt like a freak his entire life. He doesn't complain, but he has told me stories here and there and I can see it really bothers him. Unfortunately being a short guy, it's tough for him. He gets discriminated against-- people think he's a teenager (he's 24) and I've gotten mistaken for as his sister because I'm taller than him (5'5")... also, his mom still believes a growth spurt is coming his way (!) which doesn't help his Napoleon complex, and she's commented before that he needs 'a nice short girl,'... I'm thinking because then they'd look more in proportion, I guess, and conventionally people view us as... odd, I suppose, when we're together.
But, I love him just as he is, and I wouldn't want him to get this done. I wouldn't change him for the world. He's perfect. I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to, do this though. Having been quite overweight myself, I can totally understand where he's coming from, as losing the weight changed a lot in my life in regards to my confidence and self-worth. But, yeah, it's kinda sad. How boring would it be if we all looked the same? Average height, average everything... eventually we wouldn't even be able to tell what 'beauty' was because we'd have nothing to compare it to! XD

Dee your boyfriend is fortunate to have you! You seem very sweet.
As for the picture, it makes sense and looks real to me. Very Gattaca :)

fake pics.. arms and forearms were matched , the procedure just involves legs
Are you joking? Only his lower legs were lengthened, which is why his arms still reach the same place in relation to his upper legs. Duh. = =;
What I don't get is how they seem to lengthen the arms in proportion. Do they break them too, or is this some elaborate hoax?!
Wonderful result - it's just such a shame what happened to his face.
